he Indian pavilion showcased a model of Cochin Airport – the world’s first 100% green airport.
Based on the theme of ‘Future Energy’, India’s Pavilion at the ongoing international exhibition Expo 2017 in Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan, attracted a lot of visitors. The participation of India at the event was organised by India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO).
The pavilion was jointly inaugurated by L. C. Goyal, Commissioner, India Pavilion and CMD, ITPO and Harsh Kumar Jain, Ambassador of India to Kazakhstan.
The Expo, which is being held from June 10- September 10, 2017, is witnessing participation from 100 nations and more than 10 international organisations.
The participation of India at this year’s Expo has become quite significant as Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Astana to attend the two-day summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), where India was also become a member of the group. PM Modi had bilateral talks with Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev at the sidelines of the summit.
The Indian pavilion, was created in sync with the Expo theme of ‘Future Energy’, showcasing a model of Cochin Airport which is the world’s first 100% green airport generating energy more than the required.
In addition, there is a model of the ambitious project of ITPO’s Pragati Maidan into a world class Integrated Exhibition-Cum-Convention Center (IECC).
In addition to a large number of visitors, the India Pavilion was also visited by a delegation led by Malaysia’s Minister of Green Energy.
The Future Energy theme leads the visitors to Indian Pavilion’s “Energy in Life” corridor, which is designed with India’s historical architecture, presents innovative energy ideas with the help of technology and Smart India initiatives with the experience of smart cities, smart transfer, culture, yoga, tourism and ayurveda. The major attractions at the pavilion are the models, created and displayed by Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and The Energy & Resources Institute, showcasing native technology with strong focus on science and technology.
