The seventh China International Import Expo (CIIE) wrapped up yesterday in Shanghai, setting a new record with provisional deals worth USD 80.01 billion, marking a 2% increase from last year’s event. Held at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre, this six-day trade fair brought together 3,496 companies from 129 countries and regions, including key players from the Belt and Road Initiative, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, and several less developed nations.
A standout feature of this year’s CIIE was the participation of 297 Fortune 500 companies, underscoring its significance on the global stage. Chinese Premier Li Qiang, who attended the opening ceremony, praised the expo as a vital platform for fostering global cooperation and promoting reciprocal business ties. He emphasized China’s commitment to supporting free trade, globalization, and deeper integration between the Chinese and international markets.
The event also drew 39 government trade delegations, four industry trade delegations, and more than 430,000 professional visitors, reflecting a 4% increase in foot traffic compared to last year. Over 50 trade and investment promotion activities were held, leading to the signing of approximately 600 cooperation deals.
