Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the 10th edition of the India Rubber Expo – 2019 in Mumbai. The three-day event held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre is one of the most anticipated events in the rubber industry’s calendar. Guest of honour present at show included – Mr. Tinku Roy Chairman – Tripura Industrial Development Corporation and Mr. Vipul Shah – Chief Operating Officer M/s Reliance Industries Ltd. “Union Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu said that the rubber industry is a truly home-grown industry which is having a deep impact on several global markets. The minister hoped that the rubber industry will continue to grow faster, create more employment opportunities, increase exports and add to the economic output of India. Stating that the National Rubber Policy will be unveiled soon to address issues concerning the sector and also to boost productivity, Mr Prabhu said the rubber industry can also contribute significantly in India’s efforts to become a 5 trillion dollar economy. He said that a multi-pronged strategy is being formulated to boost India’s exports and to ensure that India’s products get market access in more than 150 countries.
While talking to Vishnu Bhimrajka, Convenor, India Rubber Expo said, “The India Rubber Expo is Asia’s largest rubber expo that made its debut in 2001. IRE has grown from a mere 3000 sq. mts. to be one of the most anticipated events in the rubber industry today. The 10th International Exhibition and Conference was spread across 15,500 sqmt. at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, which doubled from the size of previous event held in Chennai 2017.”
Some interesting activities at IRE 2019
- Two Pavilions from China of 800 square meter and 400 square meter were the centre of attraction.
- Presentation of Coffee Table Book presented as Souvenir in a 3 day conference at a Large Hall – Grande A, At NESCO Complex.
- Workshops which spread over 514 square meter in Hall 2 for three days were conducted which featured topics like : Setting Up a Rubber Unit, Compounding, Processing, Trouble Shooting etc.
- Domestic Reverse Buyer Seller Meet spread over 1100 square meter in Hall 1 was held for three days.
Buyers from varied sectors like Railways, Automotive, Mining, Defence, Aerospace, Infrastructure and more were Present. Sellers from across length and breadth of India took advantage of the opportunity and interacted. Cocktail Dinner & Entertainment was held at The Sapphire Hotel Sahara Star on 17th Jan 2019 evening. Live Music and Performances were held at expo venue outside hall 1 to make the environment soothing. Food coupons were given to exhibitors which was handy and appreciated. Each Booth was given a classy small memento. 12 booths in different categories were selected and given awards.
