The inaugural Circular Valley Convention is set to take place on March 12 and 13, 2025, at Areal Böhler in Düsseldorf, focusing on the vital topic of the circular economy. This new global platform aims to showcase how reuse, recycling, and innovative business models can extend product life cycles, conserve resources, protect the environment, and combat climate change. By doing so, it supports businesses in enhancing their sustainability, efficiency, and competitiveness.

Organized by Messe Düsseldorf in collaboration with the non-profit Circular Valley Foundation and with scientific input from the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety, and Energy Technology UMSICHT, the convention offers a comprehensive perspective on the circular economy. It will cover all aspects, from smart circular design to the reuse and further utilization of products.

As a central global gathering for the circular economy, the event will unite decision-makers and experts from business, academia, politics, and civil society. Under the theme “Uniting Industries for a Circular Tomorrow,” it will facilitate networking and the joint development of circular solutions and processes to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.

Strong Partnerships and Ideal Location

Messe Düsseldorf brings extensive experience from various trade fairs, such as K, interpack, and drupa, that are closely aligned with circular economy initiatives. “Our commitment to the circular economy has been demonstrated through these events, and we are excited to integrate this expertise into the Circular Valley Convention,” states Wolfram N. Diener, CEO of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH. The Circular Valley Foundation adds a wealth of knowledge and a robust network to the collaboration, further strengthened by the expertise of UMSICHT.

Situated in the heart of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region, the convention takes place at Areal Böhler, a venue with a rich industrial history. The Alte Schmiedehalle, a former steel production facility, embodies the convention’s mission of sustainability and innovative reuse.

Exploring the Circular Economy

The Circular Valley Convention will address all phases of the circular economy, including the use of renewable raw materials, product design, manufacturing, logistics, and recycling. The event will serve as a hub for applied research and practical solutions, catering to top decision-makers and experts. It will focus on three key areas essential for enabling the transition to a circular economy:

– Enabling Value Chains: Strategies for implementing efficient and sustainable cross-industry circular solutions to maximize resource use and future-proof business models.

– Enabling Technologies: Skills transfer related to redesigning, refurbishing, remanufacturing, and recycling to optimize products and processes in line with circular economy principles.

– Enabling Materials: Encouraging the effective use and recycling of diverse materials to extend product lifespans and integrate cross-material strategies for sustainable resource utilization.

A Comprehensive Event Format

The convention features a three-part format that includes a conference, an expo, and an exclusive networking event on the evening of March 12, 2025. Attendees can look forward to more than 100 high-caliber speakers and over 130 exhibitors showcasing future-oriented circular solutions. This marketplace will highlight emerging trends, innovations, and best practices.

The Circular Valley Convention presents an excellent opportunity for promoting innovative circular economy solutions, fostering exchanges, and forming collaborations that bring new ideas to fruition. Dr. Carsten Gerhardt, Initiator of the Circular Valley Foundation, emphasizes, “This convention will showcase market-ready circular economy solutions and preview the next generation of sustainable innovations.”

Philip Scheffler, Project Lead for the Circular Valley Convention at Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, adds, “This is the meeting place for those eager to actively shape the transition to a circular economy. It offers a platform to present circular solutions and generate essential momentum for a resource-efficient economy.”

Exhibitors, partners, and participants can now secure booth spaces and tickets for the event. Attractive packages are available for partners and exhibitors, while visitor tickets grant full access to the conference, expo, start-up area, and the exclusive evening event on March 12. Early bird discounts are available until November 15, 2024, offering reduced prices for both corporate and science tickets.
