FICCI and MSDE jointly organised the 11th Edition of the Global Skill Summit 2018 on 15th September at FICCI, New Delhi. Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India inaugurated the summit. Subhash Ghai, Director Producer and Screenwriter was also the key dignitary along with T.V. Mohandas Pai, Chairman, FICCI Skill Development Committee and Raj Singh Rathee, MD, Kuka Robotics India. A presentation on ‘Future Jobs’ report was given which was succeeded by a session on ‘Future skills: Jobs for masses’ about how India could leverage the existing dividend to provide employment to the workforce, instead of inevitable challenges that 12 to 13 million of youth face while joining workforce every year. Presentation on Cluster based model of employment creation and Employer based model of job creation were amongst the other highlights of the program. A Precursor to the event was also held on 14th September, ‘Virasat-The Heritage’, to share the best practices of selected clusters which have potential to create better livelihood opportunities. Representatives from states viz. Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Delhi, Maharashtra, Assam and West Bengal shared their experiences on cluster based development.
