dmg events, the leading international organizer of events in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is set to launch the Saudi Sports and Leisure Facilities (SSLF) Expo and Sports Build Show in 2024 as part of its expansion plan and to widen its portfolio across sports and leisure sectors in the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia’s vision for the sports industry is materializing as mega and giga projects, such as the 135km-long Sports Boulevard, Trojena by NEOM (host of the Asian Winter Games in 2029) and Qiddiya, the Kingdom’s emerging capital for entertainment, sports and culture are brought to life. Together the newest events, Saudi Sports and Leisure Facilities Expo & Sports Build Show are expected to boost the Kingdom’s rapidly expanding sports and leisure sectors by providing a platform for global and local suppliers to do business with over 7,000 key buyers.

With around SAR10 billion pegged for new sporting facilities coupled with the Kingdom’s goal of hosting approximately 400 sporting events annually, Saudi Arabia is undergoing a transformative boom as it aggressively looks to become a global sports and leisure destination. In the Kingdom, GDP from sports grew from SAR2.4 billion in 2016 to SAR6.5 billion in 2019, and the Ministry of Sports expects that this figure will likely grow to SAR18 billion by 2030 as sport begins to form part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Set to take place from 8 -10 October 2024 at the Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Centre, the Saudi Sports and Leisure Facilities Expo & Sports Build Show will look to highlight the economic potential, investment opportunities and the Kingdom’s plans in the industry starting from the planning and construction to management and addition of other facilities.

Sports Build Show

The inauguration of the Sports Build Show co-located with Saudi Sports and Leisure Facilities Expo aligns with Vision 2030’s commitment to sporting excellence and hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2034 within the Kingdom. It also comes at a time when the Ministry of Investment has projected the market value of the sports industry to hit SAR84 billion by 2030.

“The forecast ties directly into the momentum generated by these new events in Saudi Arabia. The exhibitions will help businesses leverage the opportunities created by the booming sports infrastructure industry and allow local and international exhibitors to meet prospective buyers to expand their businesses,” said Muhammed Kazi, Vice President – Construction at dmg events.

Some of the key product sectors at the Sports Build Show will include specialist design and construction services; parking systems and units; access control and turnstiles; CCTV and crowd management products; fencing; ticketing systems; audio-visual screens, scoreboards and display units, among others.

“Drawing from our extensive experience in the events industry, exemplified by our successful organization of the Big 5 construction events, we are now breaking new ground with the Sports Build Show. This venture signifies our commitment to innovation and diversification, as we explore the intricacies of the sports construction vertical,” added Kazi.

Saudi Sports and Leisure Facilities Expo

“In just a short time, Saudi Arabia’s sports industry has undergone a swift transformation into a formidable global player,” said Andy White, Senior Vice President, Design and Hospitality at dmg events.

“This is why our launches of the two events together with the expansion of our portfolio next year is so significant; it marks an important chapter for us at dmg events as we direct our attention towards cultivating fresh opportunities in the nation’s sports and leisure sector, while also highlighting investment prospects for our international partners.”

At the Saudi Sports and Leisure Facilities Expo visitors will get to explore products catering to stadiums & arenas, turnkey sports facilities, playground equipment, sports surfaces & equipment, sports ground maintenance, sports medicine & rehabilitation, public spaces, and street/ outdoor facilities.

White added: “With 8 world-class stadiums and 91 established football clubs, we are seeing lucrative investment opportunities and the elevation of the industry, led by the country’s new SRJ Sports Investments.”

“The launch of Saudi Sports and Leisure Facilities Expo and Sports Build Show take place under the backdrop of these emerging opportunities. The events join dmg events’ other targeted shows in the Kingdom including Big 5 Construct Saudi, Saudi Infrastructure Expo, Smart Cities Saudi Expo, The Hotel & Hospitality Show Saudi Arabia and Saudi Entertainment and Amusement (SEA) Expo.”
