The IMEX America 2024 kicked off yesterday at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, welcoming over 13,000 professionals from the MICE industry. This three-day event serves as a critical platform for networking, sharing insights, and forming new business partnerships among exhibitors, buyers, planners, and industry leaders from around the globe.
As the largest trade show for the MICE sector in North America, IMEX America has expanded by 7% compared to the previous year, featuring over 3,500 exhibitors representing more than 155 countries. The exhibition floor showcases a diverse range of global destinations, convention centers, hotel groups, technology providers, and suppliers, all eager to highlight the latest trends and innovations in the industry.
Carina Bauer, CEO of the IMEX Group, expressed her enthusiasm for this year’s event: “We’re thrilled to welcome thousands of professionals back to Las Vegas. This year’s event will be a testament to the resilience and creativity of our industry as we look ahead to the future.”
IMEX America offers a rich array of educational and networking opportunities. The event commenced with Smart Monday, powered by Meeting Professionals International (MPI), featuring a series of sessions on essential industry topics, including event design, sustainability, and technology.
Throughout the show, attendees can participate in workshops, seminars, and panel discussions led by expert speakers covering the latest trends, from sustainable event practices to the role of artificial intelligence in event planning. The “People & Planet Village” highlights the industry’s commitment to creating environmentally friendly and socially responsible events, an increasingly important theme in today’s landscape.
This year’s IMEX America places a significant emphasis on sustainability, with organizers implementing initiatives to minimize the event’s environmental impact. Efforts include reducing waste, recycling materials, and promoting responsible travel and accommodation options for attendees. Exhibitors and speakers will also present innovative solutions for organizing greener events, providing practical advice for planners aiming to lessen their environmental footprint.
The 2024 edition of IMEX America boasts over 400 exhibitor booths, with more than a third of returning exhibitors expanding their presence. Growth is particularly evident among participants from the USA and Canada, the Caribbean, hotel groups, and technology companies. Notably, 46 technology stands are featured, with a third being new entrants, and hotel groups now comprise nearly 25% of the show’s footprint.
With 80,000 meetings scheduled between buyers and the 3,600 exhibiting companies, attendees can expect a bustling three days filled with opportunities for collaboration and connection.
The show’s education program, which includes over 150 sessions on the show floor’s Inspiration Hub, is designed to energize business meetings and networking. Learning spans seven tracks, including the impactful sessions offered by Encore and Google Xi, featuring immersive experiences and experimental workshops aimed at fostering play and meaningful connections.
IMEX CEO Carina Bauer emphasized the importance of community in the business events sector, stating, “The business events community is the shining star of IMEX America. It’s clear the sector feels empowered to make this show their own, reflecting a strong sense of trust in the IMEX team.”
As IMEX America 2024 unfolds, Las Vegas is poised to become the epicenter of the MICE industry, showcasing collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to sustainability in shaping the future of the sector.
