A 2MW rooftop solar plant was inaugurated at India Expo Centre, Greater Noida by Brijesh Pathak, Minister for Additional Energy Resources, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. This happened on August 11,2017.
“This plant not only serves as a testimony of India Expo Centre & Mart’s commitment towards ‘going green and reducing carbon footprint’, but will also bring total savings of Rs. 380 million over the project lifetime of 25 years,” said Rakesh Kumar, chairman at IEML.
This plant spanning across 35,000 sqm of roof, consists of 7860 Trina PV modules. The project was completed in around 8 months and was declared for commercial use on 31st May 2017. India Expo Centre & Mart is slated to use the generated solar energy to meet up to 50% of its varying energy needs. Gurgaon-based Amplus will own, operate and maintain the project for a period of 25 years. This plant over its lifetime will help in saving 69,000 MT CO2, which is equivalent to planting 86,000 trees in addition to the guaranteed cost savings to India Expo Centre and Mart. During the launch, Mr. Pathak appreciated the effort of India Exposition Mart Ltd and said other business firms should also come forward to contribute in this segment. India Expo Mart has grabbed the attention of the entire world and today’s milestone would make IEML more remarkable, he added. Mr. Pathak, was of the opinion that Uttar Pradesh is ready to achieve several goals in the field of energy resources and would claim no. 1 GDP in the country within a shorter duration. He further urged people of the state to provide solutions and suggestions to the Government of Uttar Pradesh in the areas of solar energy systems and additional energy resources.
Talking about the business opportunities in Greater Noida and Noida, he said, “My ministry would encourage any type of proposals and plans to set up infrastructure in the twin cities.” To provide a boost to Solar Energy consumption in the country, as well to Greater Noida, India Exposition Mart Ltd on the same day, in the presence of the minister Brijesh Pathak and the chairman of IEML Rakesh Kumar, dedicated ‘IEML’s 2 MW Solar Roof Top-GRID Connected’ to the entire nation during the round-table Conference titled ‘Green Buildings–A Business Opportunity’ at the venue.
India Expo Centre and Mart has been hosting the prestigious Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo for several years and will host the next edition of REI from September 20-22, 2017. This event has played a key role in the promotion of renewable energy in India with support from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
