National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) formalized a significant collaboration with Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the 3rd India-Taiwan SME Joint Working Group Meeting held in Taipei. This event marked a pivotal moment in strengthening ties between the two nations in the realm of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), as part of the Indian delegation’s visit organized by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
The MoU aims to enhance the capacity building and skill development of Indian MSMEs in advanced technological areas. This includes sectors such as intelligent machinery, manufacturing technology, robotics, product design, and digital factory management. By focusing on these key areas, the initiative seeks to equip Indian MSMEs with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving industrial landscape.
Mr. Sunil Tyagi, Senior General Manager (International Cooperation) at NSIC, signed the agreement on behalf of the Indian organization. He emphasized the importance of this partnership in fostering innovation and technological advancement among Indian MSMEs. Meanwhile, Mr. Hsin-Chuan Su, Deputy General Director of the Intelligent Machinery Technology Center at ITRI, represented the Taiwanese side, highlighting the mutual benefits of this collaboration.
The signing ceremony was attended by distinguished officials, including Dr. Ishita Ganguli Tripathy, Additional Development Commissioner of the Ministry of MSME, and Dr. G J Lee, General Director of the Small and Medium Enterprise and Startup Administration (SMESA) of Taiwan. Their presence underscored the significance of this agreement in promoting cross-border cooperation in technology and skill enhancement.
This MoU is expected to serve as a catalyst for several initiatives, including training programs, workshops, and technology exchange sessions, aimed at improving the capabilities of Indian MSMEs. By leveraging Taiwan’s expertise in advanced technologies, Indian enterprises will be better positioned to innovate and compete on a global scale.
Furthermore, the collaboration aligns with India’s broader strategy to promote the growth of MSMEs, which play a vital role in the country’s economy by contributing significantly to employment and industrial output.
