Plastic is a crucial thrust area for India’s economic growth and Odisha’s per capita plastic processing capacity is 2.5 kg, while the country’s average is of 11 kg. Statistically, Odisha consumes 25000 tons of PP and 35000 tons of Polyethylene annually, while West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh supply 8000 tons of finished plastic products per month. This makes Odisha a potent state to witness the development of polypropylene such as PP RAFIA, BOPP, furniture-based applications, PP Cast film, PP Non-Woven etc, paving way for the new manufacturing plants not only in the state but also throughout Eastern India. The establishment of the new plants would require an estimated 100 crore of bags in Odisha alone each year.

Considering the significance of plastic processing in Odisha and its ability to bolster the Indian economy, the Odisha Assembly of Small & Medium Enterprises (OASME) in association with FUTUREX TRADE FAIR AND EVENTS PVT LTD., New Delhi will be hosting the “Propack Odisha-2024” And “Odisha Plast-2024”, from 21st to 24th November 2024 at Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The 3rd Edition of this 4-days long expo, will focus mostly on Plastic, Printing, Packaging, Converting & Food Processing Industries. Manufacturers and traders from all over India including West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will be participating in the exhibition.

Apart from plastic processing, the relevance of packaging and printing has been equally highlighted and considered, as both the industries have been dominating the Indian market and economy. Packaging is the fifth largest sector in the Indian economy, making major contribution in the industrial growth and innovation with a strong structural framework of more than 900 paper units with an installed capacity of around 4,990 thousand tons. On the other hand, the print market is predominantly driven by the machinery sector in the Eastern India.
